Yesterday in Bible study we looked at this: Out of nowhere, after a lengthy passage on the fruit of the Spirit and finding freedom in our battle with the flesh, Paul randomly adds,
Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. (Gal 5:26)
Seems out of place, but perhaps what Paul’s saying is this: We’ll never win the battle with the flesh until we quit competing with each other. Until we quit keeping up the perfection front. How much more free are we when we’re simply walking in humility.
Then, yesterday, I visit dear Tsh, and find her refreshing post: Imperfection. She shared the things she doesn’t do. A little transparency in a website-world where it’s all too easy to keep up the front.
I just had to join in the fun and I hope you will too. Like she said, this isn’t a one-upping contest of who doesn’t do the most, it’s just a fun reminder that we all have areas where we excel and we all have areas where we don’t.
What I don’t do
- I don’t keep my floor spotless.
- I don’t wash my children’s sheets unless they actually smell.
- I don’t remove my mascara before I go to bed.
- I don’t ever move furniture to vacuum. (I just wait until we move!)
- I rarely wash my cast-iron pans. (A little leftover scrambled egg in the quesadilla is not the end of the world.)
- I can’t knit, quilt, or scrapbook to save my life.
- I haven’t exercised since September.
- I don’t always wear clean clothes. (My favorite routine: Take it off, drape it over the chair, get up in the morning and put it back on!)
- I don’t make my kids wear jackets or socks. (Dutch has an aversion to both and I just don’t care.)
- I don’t always do the dishes right away.
- I don’t know how to twitter.
What about you? Don’t leave me hanging, ok? What things can you smilingly and joyfully admit that you don’t do? A little levity for our journey along this life of faith … Thanks for reading.

I don’t get up as early as I should!
And that’s only some of them! 🙂
ehem….
~ i wait for the food to dry on the floor before i sweep. it’s just easier that way. and let’s be honest, it’s a couple days worth of crumbs and peas.
~ i don’t currently exercise, unless eating a blizzard while watching “the biggest loser” counts.
~ i don’t dust.
~ i don’t make my bed.
~ i don’t let people see my basement, because it’s just that messy.
🙂
Uh oh, this list might be long!
Let’s see, I don’t read most emails (mostly junk anyway).
I don’t use most of the coupons i cut out:)
I don’t squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom of the tube.

I don’t stay on my low carb diet!
I don’t really notice the mess, it’s homey:)
I don’t worry about these things (except tucking in the kiddos–gotta remember to do that one more!)
Bless You!
I’ll be honest….
I don’t dust often (just ask my last dinner guests)
I don’t fuss or spend time on my hair
I don’t keep a clean table (mail’s gotta sit somewhere)
I don’t file but once a year maybe
I don’t get to folding my laundry for sometimes 4 days later (yikes) I don’t knit or crochet and can’t for the life of me
I don’t have perfect flower beds and I don’t organize cupboards well.
Wow that feels kinda good : } thanks to Kari for the push for humility and honesty
I never clean anything just to clean- i have to see stains or have to have spilled something. Actually, I don´t even think I should clean more often, so it´s not that hard to admit it.
I am awful at keeping appointments- doctors and accountants wait around for me.
i am, though, particular about making the bed- i just like having ONE room that looks like from a catalogue…
i eat pasta all the time while the “fresh” veggies sit in my fridge for a week
I don´t call the people i love enough…
I blame that on the hard life of an artist….
i don´t shower everyday. I don´t think it´s that healthy. so- again not that hard to admit.
Too fun!
~I don’t remove my mascara before I go to bed. 🙂
~I don’t clean the bathroom unless absolutely necessary.
~I almost never get paint colors right on the first try.
~I have no idea how to use any power tools or the lawn mower.
~I cannot do anything that requires artistic or musical talent.
~I do not take enough pictures.
~I don’t know first aid as well as I should.
I love this because our secrets keep us from being close to each other!!
I do not take pictures of anything and haven’t since my 3rd child was born almost 12 years ago!
I don’t clean the fridge unless my mom is coming to visit.
I don’t always make my kids eat healthy cereal. Sometimes Lucky Charms is just yummy!
I don’t take out the trash. I wait for my hubby or my son to do it because it stinks.
I don’t garden.
I don’t like to turn my phone off, ever.
I don’t think about my daughter all the time like I thought I would since she left for college.
I don’t always listen when my kids are talking. My mind wanders!
I never take the kids school pictures out of the packet and send them to the relatives.
I never send Birthday cards. If you get one from me, it’s because my husband sent it!
Wow, this was easy and fun!!
Thanks Kari!!
