“We love because He first loved us.”
1 John 4:19
Did you watch this video last week? Did you let your heart be reminded that Jesus wants the rose? Friends, the gospel of grace is glorious. When we are crumpled (and who of us isn’t?) He is the one who wants us, takes us in and sees us as beautiful because He died for us.
We don’t uncrumple ourselves first: “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
He is always first. His choice came far before our crumpling. And so it means that living a gospel-centered life is simply living a life of response.
A friend shared this thought with me recently and I’ve put it into practice: What if, instead of saying to God, “I love you!” we rather said, each time, “I love you, too.”
Everyday, throughout our day: “I love you, too.”
Aren’t the details of life the whispers of a Savior? Isn’t every sacred mundane day an opportunity for Christ to shower us with His love? And when we wear His Word as our lens we begin to see His grace in all things and can then live a life of simple response.
“I love you, too.”
“I love you, too,” is the appropriate and humble response to the extravagant grace He’s shown us, the love He’s already lavished on us in Christ. That simple sentence humbly bows, empty hands extended. We’ve received and we thank, we love.
Try it this week. Tell Him …
“I love you, too.”

That’s great! I’m going to start saying “I love you too”!
Yes, did watch the video and oh I know that worn, dilapidated rose. Worn out, petal-less roses need extravagant grace and Love because at the core of it we do not believe we could ever hear or receive His kind of love. Yes indeed, “I love you too”, reminds me I could not even desire for Him to know I love Him, without His having loved me first.Whoa!! Knocks me over!!!! Psssssst, Kari (i love you too:)
Kari, every time I read your blog, it’s always exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you so much for listening to your calling and sharing what God has put in your heart. I love you friend. Oh and Jesus, I love you too;) ah ah ah ah
