I’m a stickler for finishing. Somewhere along the line, one of my dear parents must have inflicted me with some conviction about always finishing a task because goodness knows it’s inflicted me ever since. Sure, there are exceptions: Heidi’s baby-book and my 10K training plan, are prime examples. Both are nowhere near complete. But for the most part, I love me a job well done.
Hence our lingering little F is For… series, which I despise. Why did I start it in the first place? I don’t know. I love doing something light on Fridays. Something fun, related to the mundane. But why did I torture myself with the limitations of alliteration? And then why did I torture myself with finishing an entire year of this silly series? Because I’m ridiculous.
How’s this for light? At any rate, I’m curious: Have any of you ever suffered through something ridiculous just so you could finish? Merit or no merit, sometimes it can border on humorous. Would love to know if anyone else has been there…
And … would you help me? What sort of series would you love to do on Fridays? Have you done some yourself that have been helpful? Or is there something in particular you’d like to read more about? Homemaking topics? Frugality? Glimpses of real life? 5-minute Fridays? Good links to other blogs? Having a g0-to theme really makes the week easier for me, leaving only 4 other “real” posts to write.
Thanks for your input! And, on our last post-day of the year, I thank you with all my heart for a fabulous 2011. YOU are a joy in my life and I thank you so much for your grace! Bless your holiday weekend and thank you for reading!

Love and appreciate you blog so very much Kari!! I also think you (and your kiddos) are extremely funny. Maybe funny Fridays?! Always love those hilarious anecdotes from your precious ones on FB and think they are more than blog worthy!!! Happy New Year Dear girl!! You are a gift to me! Xoxo
Well, my parents made me suffer through soccer. I all I wanted to do was quit- I was horrible and on a team with all boys ( I was ten or eleven- not fun). But my parents wanted to teach me not to be a quitter when I commit to doing something. It was a lesson I’m still trying to learn. I have to admit there are times I’m quick to throw in the towel.
I love any topic you write, and will look forward to your new Friday series in 2012! 🙂
Wishing you & your family a wonderful New Year!
Friday is for finishing and or beginning. A weekend, no matter when they are, (mine are Monday and Tuesday) can be about starting something that you want to or need to do as well as finishing something. Two days in a row gives us a good chunk of time to do so. Goals, boy I need goals:) love you much. PS…thank you for the thank you. PRECIOUS!!
Awesome feedback sisters! Thank you for your kind words. I am so excited about what we’re going to do on Fridays … inspired by (I believe) the Lord and your words. Love you guys, thanks so much for reading and engaging with me here…
This isn’t a suggestion (necessarily) for Fridays, but I would love a series on parenting. You have always been honest about your challenges with consistency, discipline, etc., and I would be interested in some “nuts and bolts” on the topic. How do you establish boundaries, what is acceptable behavior, and how do you deal with unacceptable behavior? In a “pick your battles” theme, in which battles do you stand your ground and which ones do you let slide? Which Christian parenting books are your favorites? There is so much at stake in bringing up our children, and I feel lost most of the time!
No matter what you write, I’ll be reading! ♥
Kari, this is so funny. I LOVED your “F” series! I thought it was so fun to see what you came up with every week. 🙂
Maybe on Fridays you could feature something to do with family life. (Sorry about that “f” in there!) A good recipe for a weekend meal, something you did with your kids that turned out really fun. A good date night you and Jeff stumbled upon, your son’s favorite books (I want a list of those, by the way!). Just little details that make life more enjoyable. I like Emily T.’s idea about a parenting series, too. Hudson is turning into such a little man and I’m so proud of him in many ways, but there are some times I just want to yell “help!!!!” in this parenting adventure. 🙂
Anyway, those are just some things I’d love to hear from you. Of course I’ll love whatever you come up with. 🙂
